Can my solicitor transfer you my sale proceeds directly?

If your solicitor or notary is able to send your sale proceeds to A Place in the Sun Currency, it is a very efficient way to start the process of repatriating your money back to Pounds in the UK.

This will vary by country and local practice, but should usually be possible, and will save you the additional hassle and cost of moving money around locally before sending it on to the UK yourself.

One you have registered with A Place in the Sun Currency, we can provide the necessary paperwork to give to your local solicitor, confirming our regulated status and that any funds received on your behalf are for your benefit once you have asked us to convert them back into sterling for you.

Assuming they are happy to make the transfer, the process is very similar to our normal transfer service, except in reverse. The only difference is that your solicitor will send us your Euros, US Dollars or other sale currency, and we will then transfer sterling to you, once we have agreed an exchange rate with you.

If your sale is in the Eurozone, we also have client Euro banking facilities in Spain and Germany, which should make the transfer easier and cheaper.

If you are told that a direct transfer is not possible, you can still bank the proceeds yourself locally, and then make a bank transfer to your facility with A Place in the Sun Currency yourself, or if you are selling in Spain and receiving a banker’s draft, you can make use of our Draft service to save the often excessive cost of banking the draft yourself.
